The diverse wildlife is a point of pride at Chippewa Valley. Medina County is one of the best places to watch birds. During your stay, you may see kingfishers, herons, owls, finches, and several species of waterfowl. In the quiet evenings, deer and flying squirrels roam the grounds.
Chippewa Valley Campgrounds is rich with history. The campground is over fifty years old and was created by Cliff Gregoire in the 1970s. Cliff founded Medina Sod and began irrigating the area in the 1960s. When the local highway started sinking, he aided in filling in the marsh area. During this time, they used a combination of horse-drawn teams and heavy equipment. One morning in the early 1960s, the crew and locals found that two bulldozers had disappeared overnight. One sank so far it was no longer visible, and only the blade of the other dozer could be seen peaking out of the swamp. Medina Sod was recently renamed to Medina Turf and is still owned by the family. It is thanks to their roots and pursuits that this beautiful area was preserved for campers to enjoy for generations past and generations to come.
At Chippewa Valley Campgrounds, our mission is to provide a Christian, family-oriented, nature focused community where people can connect with each other and the great outdoors through camping experiences.
